Sebastian leads our team as a seasoned expert with a deep background in materials science and research data management. With a PhD in Physics from Humboldt University Berlin and over 16 years of experience in the field—including cutting-edge work in opto-electronics, III-V, and IV semiconductors—he has collaborated with some of Germany’s most prestigious research institutes. His commitment to data innovation is further demonstrated by his more than three years of experience as a Data Science Team Leader at the Leibniz Institute für Kristallzüchtung, where he played a pivotal role in the digitalization of research data management. As the coordinator of the FAIRmat Area for Synthesis Data, Sebastian has driven the development of the NOMAD platform to address the critical needs of the materials science community, ensuring that data becomes FAIR and that the platform offers exceptional user friendliness. His unique blend of technical expertise and leadership continues to propel our startup towards transforming the digital research landscape.
